UPHAMS CORNER STREET FESTIVAL - SATURDAY, AUGUST 17th

OPEN UPHAMS has been invited by Nancy Conrad of Uphams Corner News Online to conduct tours of DNBG during the Uphams Corner Street Festival.  Everybody is welcome!  These interactive tours will provide the unique opportunity for people to gather in DNBG's delightful green space and learn about everything it has to offer.  Tour activities will encourage people to explore stories of the past, while creating  fun ways to celebrate the present in this wonderful public outdoor space.

GUIDE TO DNBG

DNBG is normally not open to wander in on a sunny afternoon and explore the stories of the past whispered through each intricate headstone carving.  Never fear!  While we hope that one day DNBG will be open more regularly, OPEN UPHAMS has made a Guide to DNBG which makes it easier to learn about the historic aspects of this cultural landscape.  OPEN UPHAMS believes that these stories deserve to be shared with the community in an easily accessible, graphically beautiful way.

You can download a prototype of the Guide to DNBG HERE.

OPEN UPHAMS APPROACH TO GRAPHICS / WAYFINDING

We tracked down this Cemetery Map online and spent an entire day in DNBG trying to navigate our way through it!  DNBG doesn't have visible paths anymore ( we wish it did! ), and since this map is not drawn to scale, it is pretty difficult to figure out where gravemarkers are located.  We also tried to track down sources for some of the names listed below, and were unable to confirm their validity.

Since this is print-ready, user-friendly guide, that doesn't really exist anywhere else, OPEN UPHAMS thought we would improve upon it with a newer version.  The Guide to DNBG is formatted for broadsheet newsprint,  but it can also be printed at home.  We worked to elevate its comprehensiveness and graphics in a clear and simple way.  We hope you like it!
